IT'S TIME TO RE-IMAGINE OUR WORLD FOR SOCIAL & ENVIRONMENTAL JUSTICE
“The economic and social systems responsible for the most atrocious environmental degradation, also help drive the most deeply embedded social inequities. The two are so tightly connected, our work as an environmental organization must go hand in hand with social justice. At this turning point in our relationship with Earth, we work for an evolution: from dominance to partnership; from fragmentation to connection; from insecurity to interdependence. We are all interconnected and interdependent.  Strength in diversity is not just theoretical; it’s proven by science. As humans, we must work to create and maintain diversity — in our families, organizations and communities.”  Stephen Cornish with the David Suzuki Foundation

Not Goodbye

Instead of “Goodbye” we say, “see you soon”!  Jill, our incredibly talented and committed Board Director, has been working with us since 2016, helping support our mission to get youth outdoors to promote personal growth and environmental consciousness!  Jill and her husband Wes are awesome role models, as they have consistently taken their own young boys hiking and backpacking, joyfully watching them grow and mature in the wondrous outdoors! Jill and Wes are now looking forward to sharing this passion with many more youth, by launching The Everett Explorers with The Everett Mountaineers Branch.  Outdoor Youth Connections wholeheartedly looks forward to collaborating with them on this endeavor!

Thank you to our Donors

Sherri Engvall was blessed to know Larry Ingalls personally through the Mountaineers and many outdoor experiences.  Together with family and friends she helped create Outdoor Youth Connections in Larry’s memory. Sherri’s dynamic personality helped to rally support (and contributions) in those early years. She served as a board member for 9 years before retiring for other activities. However, Sherri continues to support OYC to ensure the mission lives on. She feels strongly that our youth, especially the under-served, must have the means and opportunity to build a relationship with the outdoors in order to protect nature, experience a variety of personal accomplishments and to just have fun.

Marla Olson is a project manager at a large dental benefits company.  She found Outdoor Youth Connections through Sherri Engvall and wanted to help the organization.  She served on the board for three years, assisting with process development and general administration.  She was able to meet the youth who benefited from the grants and see how much they appreciated the opportunities they received.  Even after retiring from the board, Marla supports OYC, as she believes in their mission to promote leadership, a healthy lifestyle and a love for the outdoors.

Thank you to Craig Miller for being a loyal donor to OYC!

Delta Dental has been matching employee contributions for years, which earns our earnest deepest gratitude.

Thank you to Tim Watkins for the voice-over work on the OYC vision and mission presentation. Tim is a Seattle-based talent that taps into his extensive and varied life experience to deeply connect with scripts and audiences from all walks of life. His vivid and expressive delivery projects a vibrant warmth instills trust, and soulfully relates to a broad demographic. We are incredibly grateful for his work with OYC.
